If you are graduating college, then you should do officer training rather than enlisting. There is more vertical mobility, the range of what you can do is bigger, and the pay is substantially better.

the job you want will most likely not be the one you get. I picked about 8-10 jobs that I thought i'd like (could deal with) and when one of them opens up I'll get a call saying prepare for bmt.
I picked as many jobs that I thought would benefit me for my future. I want to get a degree in accounting/finance/ economics so I picked jobs dealing with auditing.
I'm hoping to transfer into 6F finances in the next few years, will likely put in my 20 years.

Air Force yes, cyber security no. Think, my friends: do you really want to go through the process of joining the military just so you can sit in an office and state at a computer screen? Do something awesome and experience things you won't get to do anywhere else.

Worst of all, your 'job skills' will be subpar compared to people who went to college for the field, so you won't even be well positioned once you get it.

Best AFSC: Air Transport. Easy as shit, tech school is six easy weeks in Fort Lee, once you're working you can travel or stay stateside, and once you're out you can work at any airport driving a 60k. You think many people are graduating college with specialized air cargo loaders on their transcript? Not too many, no. Those jobs pay. Supply and demand.

It's the hunger games. If you go open general, you'll be Security Forces stuck in a missile field in Minot of FE Warren. Don't do it. It's not the same as when I was in over 12 years ago.

Any desk job is hell in the Air Force, but as a flier you have to do a desk job anyway but at least you'll get a chance to make more money and not feel shitty about not doing anything with your life.

Go officer way better pay, and way better benefits in almost every aspect.

It's all a game, brown nose your way to the top without making everyone hate you and you can make it 20 years easy.

Cyber Security is probably somewhere you'll be able to learn some marketable skills, do as much school as you can while you're in as long as they'll reimburse you with TA, and save most of your money to invest in property wherever you're stationed or living at the time.

End your service with about 4-5 rental properties that pay themselves back tenfold and keep them or sell them to buy your dream home and car/work or don't work and live off your pension.

Unfortunately you'll be forced to do the new pension program which is less than what people are grandfathered into right now.
