Reminder: The founders tried to warn us.

Voting used to be a household thing. To think that wives didn't influence their husbands is incorrect. The husband always had the final say. But it used to be one vote per family. The husband and wife were together. The ones that could vote were responsible people.

During those days the ones that could vote were the ones that owned property. They weren't all rich, but they couldn't be dirt poor. They could read and write. They worked. The average voter was a gentleman. They were creators and not consumers.

To that people, voting was a privilege, not a right. It led to wiser choices, and a more responsible government, not ruled by the masses, but by people that had established lives.

Even now, American's don't have total constitutional freedom when they turn 18. Not even 21. It is unconstitutional for a 22 year old to be a representative, a senator, or the president. Those privileges don't come until they turn 25, 30, and 35, respectively.


America would do much better if we only had 1 vote per household, from people that have graduated high school, and households that pay at least 10,000 in taxes a year, including property, income, sales, etc. Or individuals over 65.

The US was better when you had to be white to be a citizen.
