According to a 2015 census of the U.S, over 52 million people (21% of the working population) rely on government assistance programs each month
Now lets consider that by 2025 when the entire Boomer population has retired and living on social security, that number will most likely jump to 80 million people. Illinois is a prime example of a state going under because it spent too much of its money into workers pensions and the tax base is diminishing due to high tax rates. Numerous U.S cities and states are on the verge of bankruptcy because of similar problems.
The U.S will likely enter a crises period within the next decade as it fails to pay pensions or keep government services alive due to the high cost of social security. This will have troubling consequences on those who are retired and those who work.
I don't know what the government will do to solve this problem but it can no longer be swept under the rug
