With out socialism there really is no point to civilization.

You can have the view that the individually strong should succeed, in which case things like laws and rules and society itself are just things that get in the way.

Or you can have the view that the group should try to make the group strong. This is what makes civilization effective, everyone is able to compensate for each others failings so that they can apply their strengths.

Currently there are sets of laws and rules that people take advantage of, but still act out of selfishness. They then claim some darwinian justification for their actions though they are weak in one way or another, and only happen to have fallen into a position where they could take advantage of the current system. With different rules they would be on the bottom and people they criticize on the top.
