>>
>>131497481
As thin as a majority as she has with the DUP, I think Theresa will be in power for a short while longer, and if she does go, then remember that in this country we vote for parties as opposed to people, so the Tories will still be in power and they'll just choose a different, more competent leader (it would be impossible for them to find a more incompetent leader). To be honest I very much doubt we will have another election for a few years yet, after the negotiations have finished, by which time the Tories will have managed to paint the bastardised deformed "Brexit" that they delivered as something to be proud of and much of the voting public will be persuaded by this.

Also, think about this, in the last general election it was Corbyn against Theresa, the worst leader of the Conservatives in modern times and he still lost by a big amount. Next time around it will be impossible for him to be facing an equally bad or worse candidate.

I'm not sure I agree that it'd be easy for them to find a more competent leader. The professional class has been completely hollowed out by the rise in managerialism, end of grammar schools and their associated social mobility, and affirmative action. I look at the current crop of MPs and really do think May might be one of the most competent. Or at least of average competence for the group. And that is what should really scare you.

I know one MP from university days. The fact that he was selected shows the system is totally broken.

We've had a referendum just over a year ago. The laziest and most destructive way to facilitate change within the democratic system. So now we have a plethora of MPs in government being asked by their leader to support electorate demanded action that they, nor her agree with. Government is susceptible to rebels at the best of times, this is a recipe for disaster especially now her majority was shattered.

>Why does our country have an underlying socialist element

Democracy in an enviroment of welfare, its literally the three men problem.

Three men, two live hand to mouth and one lives frugal. Hard times come and the two hand to mouthers see the frugal man lives better than they do so vote for to take half his shit.

Until the government guts the welfare state and the state is reduced in size by about 95% the problem will persit, thats not happening so instead we get slow grind, swings to socialism till the day it all crashes and erupts in national ethno class violence.

Sturgeon is making an announcement today lads. What do you reckon it'll be?
>>
>>131502562
That's precisely what you implied. That's exactly what a free market (which has never actually existed by the way) economy does.

They're totalitarian structures, with a strict hierarchy and orders that must be obeyed. Orders are passed from a group at the top, the board of directors, down the chain until those who are permitted to rent themselves to survive are ordered to carry out some action.

From within the structure you cannot possibly influence anything, because there are no labour laws to protect the workers. If they try to organise just fire then, and then they'll starve or get picked up by another corporate tyranny.

>>131502590
They're unaccountable to those who work in them. Without a state to protect them, workers cannot organise, and cannot ensure decent treatment.

You cannot vote out a CEO, nor can you influence his decision from within the structure.

This corporation uses its wealth to heavily propagandise consumers into buying its product (also known as advertising) even if they don't really want it or need it, and it's payed for off of the backs of the poor souls forced to rent themselves.

It doesn't help that there would be regular economic crashes, because with no state to regulate their actions, the systemic risk would be enormous. The whole thing would come crashing down in months because a free market economy is unsustainable. Then the workers would really suffer.

So you'd rather more costs were shifted onto you? That's what a privatised system does.

The whole idea is to cut out services that don't make a profit, but what happens if you're one of those people who needs the unprofitable service? Well, you'll just have to pay more money to do it another way.

These add up, to the point where everyone is effected by this shifting of costs. So that's the "self interest" model of nationalisation.

However, it's also true that a strict Immigration policy will mean all worker protections must be scrapped to keep the companies here. In that case, workers will have less money, less protection, less ability to influence how the country is run, and thus you end up with tyranny.

The only option for a happy, homogenous society is a nationalised state capitalist system operated in a spirit of comradeship.

>>131503951
Privatised industries often cost the state indirectly so higher taxes might not necessarily be needed. However, in reality I would advocate increased taxes on the rich because I'm of the opinion that most people aren't callous and actually care about their fellow man.

Most people care of the poor get healthcare, as they care if the kid down the road gets a school to go to. Most people would be willing to spend more to ensure society prospers. This whole "rational self interest" nonsense goes against human nature. Humans are naturally considerate.

Regardless, if a people are patriotic enough they will willingly make monetary concessions to their government.

>>131503818

Human beings are a bit like zebras.

The camouflage of a zebra is shite at hiding them in the environment but great at hiding in the herd.

So when a human being has desires that would reveal themselves against the herd, they won't reveal it or show it.

However when those same desires are made public (or when enough people openly practise them) they'll come out and show it themselves.

For example the pornography categories of orgies and group sex normalise the behaviour in that immediate area, because so many people are publicly engaged in sexual intercourse it allows the individual to openly express their own sexual looseness without fear of ostracisation.

The same goes for TV shows like "Love Island", seeing a lot of people in a small area practise openly something you wouldn't otherwise deem appropriate it justifies the behavior to the individual watching it.
>>
>>131504621
What exactly they mean by it is an important consideration when supporting people who want it, and most free marketeers are for open borders.
>>
>>131504219
How would there be free movement of people/ not labour in an open border libertarian freemarket system if ocupying land violated the nap.

If people came onto land without having a rental agreement in place with the landlord they would be forcefully removed.

With the internet these days wouldnt it be logical to assume that if somebody wanted a job in another country they would apply and then travel with the documents?

tl;dr johnny foreigner comes to UK and isnt a citizen, is removed from the area for vagrancy.

Sure its possible charities would give permits for foreigners, but people would be free not to support that charity for encouraging vagrancy.

All hypothetical of course.

Johnny foreigner comes to the country and acts like a gypo on your land, trys to fuck with your shit and steal shit, you shoot him, problem solved.

With free association, city states would be a thing and could be martialed acordingly, you might get lefty communities and white nationalist comunities, i have no problem with that.

How is that a problem then? if johnny foreigner can provide the same service for less, thats exactly the free market in action.

The world is changing rapidly, IP and copyright are a weird thing in the age of the internet.

Obviously in a welfare state or a non free market crony system like we have now, movement of labour is bad because it causes wage compression and other factors.

In a free market with free association, all white nationalists could band together and form a citystate/community/possibly found a country.

brit/pol/ is like a virtual citystate, a community within a community within a subculture within a technological niche. The mods (military) protect against foreign attacks (spam) and breach of what we agree are basic laws but otherwise leave us to self police.

>>
>>131505116
It's all a very nice idea, but the end result will always end up with capital residing in the hands of a select few, and the rest of society being forced to rent themselves to their masters. After all, with no welfare state, what choice do workers have? They need to work to survive. That's not a bargaining position, that's a master-slave relationship.

Businesses, of course, wouldn't be able to be benevolent or kind, because then someone undercuts you. They'd also want to ensure the penalties for quitting the job are as harsh as possible so as to ensure nobody does it.

You can't have unaccountable rulers if you don't want to live in tyranny. You end up with productionism, just like in Soviet Russia (which, mind you, was essentially operated like a giant corporation)

Yes, it is. It's also what Tsar Alexander III, and later Stalin did to the Peasants who were forced to search for work in the cities after famine. These living quarters were built on the cheap, didn't have effective sanitation, and were designed to house workers during the hours where they didn't work, ensuring that the factory owner had control.

What prevents a business owner from building a similar shanty town, and firing their indigenous employees for cheap overseas labour? Or, further, with no workers rights to force the British to live in these barracks?

You may say "well, they'll find work elsewhere". The question is how? Did the Russian peasants under the Tsar find better pay elsewhere? No, they didn't, everyone payed roughly the same to avoid being undercut.

With central banking and such how is that any different to what we have now? The difference being that with a proper free market and indeliable rights, the lower classes, ie us, might actually have the ability to protect ourselves and our property without the state/others fucking us.

The entire premise of giving away half your wealth in divorce for example is fucking retarded.

If we had an actual asset backed currency, it would be pretty hard for others to lock you out of the financial system if you owned physical wealth and resources and had the weapons to protect yourself.

Life by biological design isnt fair and functions on survival of the fittest, it sounds like im advocating some kind of libertarian social darwinism and i guess i am, and maybe that makes me predjudice i dont know. I'm not sure society can ever be fair, but maybe we can make it fairer without stealing from peter to pay paul. Tribalism is obviously still a part of human nature, look at cultures and subcultures on the internet and in modern politics.... I honestly think its time the state got out of the way of everything.

>Currently women in England and Wales have to prove to a doctor that carrying on with the pregnancy is detrimental to health or wellbeing to get permission for a termination.

I honestly think when the world economy crashes, we will get the socialist revolution the left wants and the swing hard right.... if society pulls through the violence without world war 3 and nuclear war, socialism will be dead and done for generations and what we will have left is a type of libertarian social darwinism, with the internet and additive manufacturing and local city state communities being central..

Bring on 2150, im looking forward to it, if we/i survive because right now i think this is the most dangerous time in human history.

The difference is that the state controls their activities, and workers have protected rights. When you strip away the state and thus protected rights, people will have less, not more. They will be paid less, and housing for the majority will end up being of a lower quality.

You won't have anything to protect!

History shows that when you give unnacountable, autocratic institutions power, the bulk of the public suffers. From communism, to capitalism, it doesn't matter what the nature of the institution is, if it is totalitarian and authoritarian (as a business undeniably is), then people have no other recourse but to submit or starve.

As far as divorce and other issues are concerned, in a democracy you have the ability to change the rules by voting. Now, corporations make this difficult, but it can be done (as Brexit shows). In a system with no state, how can you change anything? From within a company, how do you influence the actions of the employer, without union rights?

In terms of weapons, who protects your access to ammunition? If a company wants to prevent workers from demanding better conditions by force, it either buys up all arms and ships them overseas, or it stops their production by other means.

We end up with a lord of the flies type society. No rules for the rulers.

Yes we should

A country should have a very basic set of rights through which all divisions of government are specifically set up to ensure

i.e. right to not be killed, right to fair trial, right to free speech, right to possessions, right to not be a slave etc.

but none of that feelings or welfare shit

Wouldnt you think a large authortarian corp would be subject to the corruption and such that has brought down all authortarian governments, monarchies and states in the past.

When a lord or a king in ancient times taxed the peasants too much they rose up and killed him. If the lord or king was tyranical, somebody from the inside killed him, or the people rose up and killed him.

Humans seem to do better in the proper social darwinist environment we evolved in.

I just think this excessive regulation, taxation and policing of people stifles everything.

It would be in the best interests of the board of directors to do so. It would also be impossible not to oppress workers while still remaining competitive. The structure of a corporation is little different than a productionist society (USSR, China, mercantilist Europe.), and productionism invariably leads to poor wages, conditions, health provisions etc. because they're not the priority. Unless you have these things protected, a businessman would be taking a huge risk of being undercut by a more ruthless owner if he decided to provide workers with decent conditions.

Would you rather we lived in a society with regular armed insurrections, and the subsequent social cleansing that follows? Would that not lead to terror as corporations create private militias to occupy the factories and ensure workers cannot converse? Arbitrary terror?

It is analogous to Stalinism, the only difference being the rhetoric used, and the number of bases of power. For example, the Stakhanovite movement is something you would expect to see in a sweatshop, or even in a modern company. Incentivising production at the expense of all others.

You may dislike taxation, regulation, and policing, but without it you have anarchy, and tyranny.
