This is Porsche's answer to Tesla.

Tesla BTFO or what ? I like the way it looks. Also those specs be insane, but probably true when you put burger engineering vs Porsche's engineers lol.
>>
>>131420972

Interior, it actually looks like a car and not a tablet on wheels lol
>>
BTFO'ed

Major motor company's weren't all into electric cars because they didn't have to.
>>
Elon Musk BTFO'd himself. His companies are so reliant on US taxpayer subsidies, they literally wouldn't exist without them. He fucked himself when he walked out on the President.

Good luck to Porsche. I wouldn't buy one, but I wasn't going to buy a Tesla either. As a burger, I enjoy cheap gas and can drive a guzzler as much as I want.

Meanwhile everyone who has driven both a manual and automatic inevitably says they prefer automatic for daily commuting after owning a manual for a decent amount of time. Driving in stoplights quickly becomes boring.
>>
>>131422603
Seriously tho. I recall them ribbing Americans for driving automatic not long ago. Of course, even back then I was redpilled enough to know it was all because yuropoors can't actually afford automatic transmissions.

But still, I must concede that the experience of driving a manual in a favorable environment is far more exhilarating than choose one: brake or gas.

Now I see their entire argument was bullshit and they know it. They were only ever virtue signalling. Which is precisely why it's perfectly fine for an electric car to be automatic.

In a theoretical world the torque x rpm of an electric motor is directly inversely proportional. So you would only require 1 gear (5th in this case). But due to practical reasons if the torque curve is not completely linear, multiple gears can be utilised to ensure that the torque at the wheels (after torque multiplication of the gearbox) per motor rpm is maximised, thus improving efficiency.
>>
>>131424393
An electric motor doesn't have any RPM though. That's not how it works
>>
>>131424393
Gears would improve efficiency, yes.

But most electric cars don't have gears because their torque at low speeds is so big it would destroy a normal clutch.
And installing a super beefy clutch and extra strong gear box to deal with the torque just ads weight and cost that's better spend on a bigger battery instead.

They already partially do this.

That asshat that died taking a nap in his Tesla was asleep for 40 minutes before it happened.
And presumably he'd done this before.
Thats a pretty good start to be honest.

We need data, lots of data, real world data, all kinds of roads at all times in all conditions, to train the AI to handle all conditions.
Tesla already has cars on the road soaking it all up.
So far ahead they have more data than google.

Nobody knows how long its going to take, but its only going to get better.
I'd say two decades at most until it will drive around your suburb without killing kids.

>it can't detect when it's map is faulty.

Have you read at all about Teslas strategy?
They started with a sports car and worked their way down so they could fund the development of their main product, decent electric cars that are actually affordable.
The endgame is to get as many electric cars to as many people as possible so they can bank off of the infrastrucure they're putting in.
Meanwhile porshe is wasting resources cutting into the electric sports car market while not offering the trickle down effect on cheap electric cars in the future.
Think about that for a sec.
They are trying to cut into a market solely existing for the rich activists that care more about the future their purchase goes towards, than the minute effect their own lack of emissions creates.
They have no plan and they have no future in electric cars.

OP: you know the whole idea behind Tesla was exactly to disrupt the car industry so ALL brands would get into the electric car revolution, right?

That is because Elon does what he does because he wants to give the human race the most chances possible to survive despite it's own stupidity, so because he knows he couldn't just go like: "Hey everyone who makes cars, you should start making electric cars", he just went like: "I managed to get everyone excited about having an electrical car and disrupted the industry so effectively that now every major brand is going to be making cheaper and cheaper electrical cars as well as luxury and sports electrical cars and so humanity will depend less and less on fossil fuels."

And he also wants to make AI driven cars, let's see how that goes.

Have you guys seen screenshots of Tesla's interior especially the tablet.

No. It has more to do with the fact that a diesel run longer into a day without having to stop at lunch to recharge your stupid gimmick tractor for 4 hours. Battery technology is the biggest limitation on electric anything. You already have electric machinery, go to any open pit mine or underground mine and you occasionally see electric equipment (if they aren't in a super remote region that is, then they just use diesel)

You won't see electric powered excavators like pic related until you see a huge leap in power storage technologies.

Nigger... toyota did that

>>131433123
They could start with the compact tractors though, something like 150kwh battery should be enough there.

It's all cheap Chinese/Mexican made shit. Don't know about modern Porsches but I hope they don't source parts from Mexico; Mexican engine parts are absolute trash.

A compact tractor can easily hold a huge battery bank, in fact, you probably would still need to add weight manually so it'd weight enough.

In some markets that's downright cheap.
Given that non-electric vehicles here have about 100% taxes added on and electrics don't... A Porsche can now be yours for a lower price than a Mazda.

You're driving a Holden so you might not understand how the rest of the world views GM and how awful they "engineer" their products, you guys have it semi-lucky for having that, GM can't make shit here, you can't see out of the camaro and the vette is hot garbage that cant make it 6 miles without losing oil.

Literally doesn't know that the definition of literally was literally made to not mean literally. Go look it up and be sad, in 2013 they added an add addendum to the definition that is as follows : "used for emphasis or to express strong feeling while not being literally true." It literally uses the word in the defintion...

>>131427017
> human psychology
thats exactly the point, human psychology sucks...! certainly when under time and stress constraints.

"muh fun of driving!" won't hinder the safety argument, and thats iignoring the HUGE economic advantages.

>>131435739
> will be illegal to drive by yourself
this

safety will be the argument that wins it.
increasingly, human error is the reason of road accidents.

imagine:
2 cars going down the road next to each other.
something falls in road ahead.
if humans are driving, they have fractions of seconds to figure out what todo.
even then their 'plan' relies on guessing what the other car is going todo, their survival chance are intertwined.

if you replace the humans with, "ai" even the ones we have now, in that spit second they could, spin up cloud servers, crunch some numbers on physics simulators, and communicate their joint "plan" to each car without much effort.
