I like to compare modern streets were I live with how they looked 100 years ago. It's pretty easy to find in the UK, particularly a town's main street. In my own small town, I can easily compare the majority of central streets with their Victorian equivalents. Most of the changes occurred before I was born. They are almost always uglier.
How long do you think it will take for people to start liking modern architecture? I mean, it's had a few generations, why do normal hate buildings built in the 'modern' style that were built before they were born?

Yeah. Most major cities were festering dungheaps prior to WWII. Most still are to some degree.

Also I've noticed that large cities with grandiose architecture tend to be less liveable than the ones without. They tend to be more egalitarian, and have fewer smaller slums.
