As an aside, with regards to facial features and skin tone, there has clearly always been variation in the Arab peninsula. For example, Muawiyah was described as having fair skin, fair hair, and coloured eyes. He came from the same tribe as Muhammad. Both of his parents were Arab, and he was born before the Arab conquests. Conversely, other figures at the time are described as having darker skin and brown eyes.
