What are some things black folks should be proud of?
Jazz and blues maybe?
Also rock n roll borrowed from blues heavily I think.
yeah as a musician I have this conversation regularly.. Blues was the birth of R&R for sure… but the notion that blues sprang out of nowhere is absurd. The Black contribution to the blues was field hollers that stemmed from tribal chants and rhythms.. mixed with popular music of the day like dixieland, appalachian folk, bluegrass, gospel and church music, as well as popular music in the south.. is what yielded blues.
The Blacks with blues contributed a looser rhythmic feel to music along with lyrics that contained sexual innuendo and lyrics about suffering… whereas most popular music of the time was upbeat and positive with tighter rhythmic feel and corny lyrics for the most part.
Still the influence of Black musicians and their music in the early to mid 20th century cannot be dismissed or downplayed.. However, what I say to Blacks these days is - hurry up and invent another form of music please? Because Rap is literal dogshit and without merit… its fucking slop compared to blues jazz soul gospel funk rock n roll … from the 80's onward Black music is a massive fail AFAIC modern Blacks should be ashamed.

They should strive to act in a way they can be proud of instead of claiming victim status every time things get a bit difficult. If they had then they wouldn't have been looked down on for so long.

Being tops in crime while convincing white society they're actually the victim.
