We will rise again. oil and gas being depressed has fucked the state hard. but more people are moving in than are moving out. long term, heavy industry will continue to move to OK. Plus, cost of living is fantastic.

I was born in Oklahoma and lived there until I was 17. Problem #1: most of the K-12 schools are shit-tier, fix that. Problem #2: very limited opportunities, especially if you're kind of poor (and a lot of people there are, even if they don't realize it because the cost of living is so low) and can't afford the gas or time to drive hours and hours just to get to a decent opportunity.

Another funny thing is that despite how mediocre-at-best the K-12 schools are, all the lazy soccer mom-tier teachers I know from Oklahoma are always bitching about their pay. Lol.
