Because most people are told to be passive instead of being proactive. People are used to rely on others to come and save them. People are encouraged to blame everything on either "Patriarchy" or "Jews" so they feel content in wallowing in their self-pity and don't have to do anything on their own to improve their station in life.

People who don't want to try to advance further in society should try to learn to just enjoy their life and stop complaining. It's perfectly well to work a trade job until you die and focus on your family and such, but it's not alright to hope that you suddenly need more money because you measure your happiness in money.

You have to realize that people generally have no satisfaction irl, which in some cases can be a good thing as it encourages you to move forward and achieve more but in a consumerist society it can have serious detrimental effects.
Achieving satisfaction in life won't happen in current western society, as long as there on more iphone you can buy or one more xbox you can have, the cycle will never end.

People have been accustomed to copying reel life to their real life for deveral decades now. Once you realize the emptiness of all the products/tv shows/movies/books/music churned out, only then you'll be able to take a step at least in the right direction.
