But if I had to name a moment where I realized I just didn't belong, was when I was dating this woman who honestly thought that Ferguson was justified and that it was the polices fault and endemic racism, not problems arising from their own misdeeds and inactions.
Eventually, we started fighting a lot. Growing up in a small town, I firmly believed that a sense of family and community would be a good thing, but one night she tried hitting me and I split. I literally threw some shit in a bag and left Maryland for good that night. I walked as far as I could, then grabbed a bus the rest of the way back to Ohio.

I don't like seeing free speech trampled upon. I don't like seeing liberal smugness. And I don't like the idea of not having personal responsibility.

There was no singular moment for me. There were a series of moments that led to me being where I am.

There was a subreddit called /r/niggers that I was at first repulsed by but kept coming back to look at.
