We are not aztecs, most of that people died or just stopped breeding, and we are not spaniards either. Acknowledging pre-hispanic roots does not mean denial of hispanic heritage. Memes aside, our culture is really rich, and plenty of it came during the New Spain. I wish people stopped hating and blaming spaniards for what they did —aztecs practiced war too and what we know as Mexico never existed until the conquest/independence— though that's hard considering the way history is taught at schools. They teach defeatism and hatred towards spaniards —not saying that they were good guys, but certainly a lot of history is based on dark legends— which only makes people vulnerable to putting the blame onto someone else for their shortcomings. The way the viceroyalty is taught is nothing but an endless narrative of low self-steem. This is a long topic so I'll skip it for now.

Until people come to terms with a nation created out of the clash of two civilizations, people will never be united and truly progress. That's been Mexico's weakness throughout history. We are constantly against each other. Weakness that has been exploited by other countries.
