Now its backfired as being one gets you privileged as a poor minority. I put down African American when I applied to college or for jobs to get the "poor old minority" privilege. The way I see it is if they call me out I can just argue how retarded it is to have black/african american. Black is indicative of skin. African American is am American with African origins. I can just throw their R word in their face until they back down from the argument.
