Why is the current Pope such a cuck?

Benedict had bad PR due to his following an insanely popular Pope and the fact that Benedict was conservative whereas John Paul had the (at least in public) appearance of being a reformer/liberal.

Also, the coverage of child sex abuse scandals exploded under Benedict's watch in terms of trials and even more details leaking out while he was Pope. Partly because the press was too cowardly to report them with John Paul as Pope. Benedict being openly conservative meant they could go hog wild at long last covering it, by framing it under the notion of "conservative Pope did nothing but cover up priests raping little boys".

But the biggest thing was that Benedict, try as he might, could not make a dent on reforming the vast sea of corruption, both with the child sex abuse but also the catastrophic financial corruption at the Vatican. He basically wanted to fix shit, but didn't have the political capital to do so without being betrayed and possibly killed by his fellow conservatives.

So that was why Benedict quit. He put the Church above his own desires for power, by resigning and arranging Francis to be his successor, due to the fact that he was a liberal and reformer, which would allow him the cover and favorable PR to do all of the things Benedict could not do.
