In school we were forced to do it every single day, sometimes twice a day if we switched class rooms in elementary school. In middle school we only did it once in the morning because the teachers couldnt be fucked to do it 7 times a day.

At school its done in the morning, usually the principal of the school would come onto the pa speakers to leader everyone in the school. Some years they didnt do that and each teacher would lead the plead of allegiance.
If you didnt do it, stand, and/or put your hand on your heart then you hated god and country.
Its also done at sporting events and some other events.
In recent years its kinda gone out of style though.
