I feel like I have the drive to win. I've made it to diamond 3 in LoL, 2400 in WoW and made it to Legendary Eagle in CS:GO. It's always like that last threshold I can never break. Believe me I spent several hours a day for an entire summer just watching my own replays, trying to get friends to tell me if there's anything I'm missing or how I can improve, but seemed like no matter how dedicated I was, I just plateaued.

I think some of it is the new idea that you can't tell anyone they did anything bad or wrong because muh self-esteem. I've noticed most women this generation can't handle pressure because every since they learned they can tell the teachers "im really stressed right now" they've never actually had to take more shit than they expected. Guys, who already play competitive games more often, learned how to handle pressure and rapid descision making. The first is reaction time. Women's nervous/musculatory systems just do not have the same capacity for twitch muscle reflex and intuitive thoughtless action that men do.
The second is APM(actions per minute). Females cannot generate the 340+ APM that you need to consistently pump out to keep pace with a finely tuned male esport player. Some of these guys can maintain 400+ APM with no sweat.

Chess is completely different, I believe that there is little to no appeal for women to play chess, when compared to men, knights used to play chess on daily basis to sharpen their thinking skills. I used to admin tournaments for mlg. Women gaming teams are shitty. It isn't just the lack of hand eye coordination. They lacked team work, game sense, communication, etc. Guys would be prefiring hallways and they would just run through the fire. They never seemed to have strats. Guy teams would have fallbacks and cover each other if they died while the girls would just kind of hope a death on their team wouldn't be taken advantage of by the other team. It was really weird. The big idea is that females growing up don't face the same challenges the boys do. And quite a lot of times they get the benefits on top of that. Thus they never learn how to deal with difficult situations or how to act under pressure.

For example when it comes to chess, they can't hold the pressure when the pawns are facing eachother and both can take one another. There's a tiny subset of humans at the top end of that bell curve that are capable of reaching that level. And if that curve is shifted even slightly to the left, in the case of females, the pool of males with equivalent skill becomes much larger. This mathematical outcome is much less noticeable towards the bell curves center. If women actually played games as much as men, I doubt you'd see much difference in say, average skilled players.

The best I've done is play at Gold level in League. I would have gotten better, if I didn't have anxiety with video games. I am always worried about messing up, since I am a perfectionist. I'm actually good a lot of games, but I prefer to play single player games, or mmo's. I have also helped run a raiding guild in World of Warcraft.

Arena and PvP just gave me so much more,you just had that intensity of defeating another player.Not just a random programm,which also was way easier to defeat than high arena players.Or let's say it different,you had to grind your way up way tougher and harder than in PvE.

I was a top smash 4 player at one point in St Louis, but from what I noted with women gamers that showed up to these events. None of them played the game to prove they are better than you, they played the game to be social and meet others and have fun.

I know what you mean about enjoying defeating other players. I did enjoy things other than dueling. I loved battlegrounds, or raiding of cities. I once started 3 40man raids in Ogramar that ended up crashing the server since it was a full server. Still never got that damn achievement because of lag. (I also enjoyed glitching, and managed to teleport everyone into a tree at the northern cliff of Ogramar. So guards could not see us, and we could not be targeted.

League by itself isn't hard. It just takes discipline, and mastery of all aspects like warding and control.

Mastering more than 1 champion helps as well. You need at least 3 champions of every position to do well against all comps.

I actually started in Cata. Feel free to hate on me for saying that. I've heard the stories though, and have read a lot about other people's experiences. Many people I know, were from the beginning, and even the pre-mmo games. I've thought about playing the illegal ones, but I promised to quit playing it.

I actually picked up Cata, because I saw the opening animation and since dragons were my favorite thing ever. I decided to play it. I had seen one of my male friends play it a few times. I joined, and they refused to play with me. So I grinded 1-85 without talking to another player over the course of a year. (I worked full time at the time, and was already getting little sleep). I enjoyed a lot of the story lines as well. I'll never forget seeing the Barrens for the first time. I really felt the size of that game when I seen that. I also really enjoyed the art style. I used to take screenshots, and use them as wallpapers.

I struggle with coordinated reaction. I can see things coming, but when I try to hit the buttons. I tend to panic slightly, hit more than one at the same time. That is probably the single most frustrating thing for me. IT takes so much focus to be able to relax and time everything perfectly in a split second. League was shit at input lag too.

Now it's weird. Every single person I run across is one of those cross-server people that occasionally zip in and out of existence, and you can't trade with them or really do anything meaningful, so it makes a world that already feels empty feel like it's only inhabited by NPCs.
