With that said, the issue of children or not having children is more complicated than he made it seem. The one giant reason the EU is beginning to unravel is because of it's low birth rate. The UN actually refers to the refugees and migrants coming to Europe as "replacement migration." Young people aged 18-45 or so are the prime demographic for consumption...consumption in turn is the prime driver of demand...and demand is the prime driver (in the opinions of many economists) of economic growth. In short, Europe is about to economically stagnant, if not collapse entirely, due to dwindling demographics within the next couple of decades and there's almost nothing that can be done about it.

Contrast that with Africa which is expected to reach a population of 4 billion by 2100 if it's not arrested. Some activists believe we can keep that population at around 2.5 billion if we start today. That 4 billion number is a disaster because it means that around 2 billion people will starve to death.

In short, while there are arguments to be made for resource conservation, having kids is great for the economy. The great moral-cosmic right to have kids should be founded in the ability of people and nations to FEED themselves.

I just want to pop into this thread to mention that, while, yes, we didn't always have ice caps at the poles or stable weather patterns, we also didn't always have a livable planet either. Life arose in the unstable equilibrium our planet has been balancing in for millions of years. Speeding up the rate that we exit from that balance can't possibly be good for anyone, let alone humans that need such a complex ecosystem to thrive in.

Also called the "masses." There's nothing wrong with targeting different demographic groups. For example, Aaron Sorkin's shows were able to stay on the air for so long because they appealed to some of the best educated and affluent demographics. This fact was actually made it into his writing for Studio 60, how one of those affluent viewers was worth five regular viewers to the advertisers.
