It depends *where* they born abroad. If they were born on a military hospital under US jurisdiction, then it's usually considered equvialent to being born in the U.S. However, if the kid is born under the jurisdiction of a foriegn country, then that's where the controversy lies.

Children of US citizens born abroad, have to undergo a process to receive their citizenship. You have to submit a notarized copy of their birth certificate, and most of the time, a paternity test, to the local embassy.

No, none of the other GOP candidates would, een though they were A LOT less controversial than Trump. The difference between Trump and Cruz/other candidates is that he fought back hard.
