I don't know how the meth situation is down under, but seeing one of my buddies get hooked and unhooked along with my experience in weed buying leads me to this conclusion. The reason why Cannabis is a "gateway drug" is because the people selling weed also sell other shit. Endone does work for temporarily masking extreme pain. Last time I took it I was up in the bush, had a fall, couldn't get up. Goanna walked past me and spent 15 minutes going through the kitchen garbage, all I could do was watch.
Finally struggled upright, took an Endone then drove 600km to see my chiropractor who relieved the pressure on a nerve root.

Drugs don't remove pain, they mask it, so the body continues to deteriorate from the cause. Going back to work while on pain pills was the worst thing ever - I'm partially disabled as a result of working while not fully healed.
