Does /pol/ remember "the nothing" from The Neverending Story? Imagine a nation that weaponized the nothing and set it loose on the world. Now, imagine that nation is America.
Posters here have accurately identified the source of the world's "degeneracy" but not the nature of it. It's not degeneracy but rather nothing. It's a void where a culture belongs like a socket without a gemstone. America is a nation that promotes the bombastic, the nonsensical, and the inane.
We make it look fun and innocent with bizarre icons like the flag-clad pedophile on stilts, Uncle Sam, or the mentally retarded boy who mistakes feathers for macaroni, Yankee-Doodle. Other nations see this and think it's harmless idiocy, and they're half right, it's idiotic but far from harmless.
As time progresses the harmless fun becomes a little less cohesive and a little more provocative. Before anyone is aware of what's happening their daughters are listening to music about sex and depravity while they grind on sweaty strangers at some filthy club. The nothing spreads like a plague because it's exciting.
There was a time when America met the Anti-America, a nation that stood for something. This nation had honor, integrity, and cohesion. Naturally, America dropped atomic bombs on this nation and occupied it with nothing. This horrifying story of vapid destruction was documented in the classic book called Horton Hears a Who by Dr Seuss, because a children's book about the destruction of an admirable empire is an inappropriate medium and Americans think that's funny.
The occupation of Japan by the nothing stripped it of any sense, logic, and dignity that it once had. Instead of marvelous artwork they created big-eyed, clumpy-haired bimbo cartoons rife with pedophilia, because Uncle Sam is into that. While you may feel like a proud Dutchman jerking off to your 2d Japanese waifu, in reality you're just another burger jerking off to a Yankee-Doodle cartoon.

there are no terms or conditions, it happens against a nations will. you know when you see girls with their hair dyed strange colors, or they're covered in tattoos and piercings, and they talk about "standing out from the crowd?" have you ever wondered what that really means, to stand out from the crowd? for a German to stand out from the crowd they have to stand out from the Germans, they have to be non-German essentially.
The void that has spread from America sucks the identity out of people and leaves them desperately trying to create a new one, and of course their new identity is always the same, bombastic and shallow, but fun.

I agree, from their perspective, its probably, as has been said an attempt to be in some way special. some people are considered for some way special, in some way special people are different, to be just like everyone, (everyone must be in certain ways, on some levels, you are upset with the levels of offness, variancy) is to apparently not be in some way like the way such that individual wants to be, people look up to celebrities, their parents, it is competition to stand out, in some sense, nature does it in many ways, people attempt to become strong and smart, dedicate to all sorts of extravagant competentcies to prove worthy of maintaining their life and family, thats not entirely it, a source of, or partly, what you are talking about is, peoples perception and projection of self and world, peoples fantasies and understandings, relationships, thoughts, desires, worries, expressions, you are suggesting many problems with peoples self image, you are suggesting people who attempt to stand out always or mostly suffer in someway, have a condtion, ailment, and would be happier, healthier, but they just dont know it yet, and they experience so much (part of reality is paths of least resistance) fun and various outer connections with cultures and ways of life and potential, and it feels good and right for them and at least for time it works,
at the same time, most people are, just (not to take that lightly or demean) people trying to live their lives, there is struggle, and challenge, and their own bubble, and relations of town, and grand and minor cultureal historical socieo economic politcal world stage
there are many views that see niches and bigger and smaller of perfect, for much time that has been the case,
who loudest says what is wanted and how, who all is listening, what will and what should be done
