The US has a much large patient population and less doctors per head then all the countries with a single payer system. Also the US has always had a much higher standard for health care when it is available. We don't want a system like the UK where people die on waiting lists just to see a specialist.

our situation is fucked either way, we pay over 600 billion for medicare which is only 65+, brits only pay 150 for everyone. Obviously we would pay more because of a larger population, but adding what we already pay for medicaid to medicare, it would be way less to have NHS level care across the country.
