He used "Keynesian Principals"?

Keynes was a lifetime deviant, pedophile, charlatan, anti-Christian, Satanist.

But NWO Bull-Queers, Mongrel-Theists, and Jews paraded the freak around like it was a prize-pony.

The Jew made Ronald (Brain-Diseased) Reagan trot out the Keynesian mind-fuck.

He was a good little Goy.

Cutting taxes and increasing the base is a classic and well establish way to get a economic engine going again.

He did run up the debt, but that was due to the growth in spending, not a lack of income.

Finally, "Trickle down does work." People today are so insanely wealthy they have a hard time understanding what it was in the 1970s

He pushed gun control, he pushed shitty trickle down economics that have proven to not only not work, but actually be bad for the companies participating in them (because they make good short term profits but awful long term growth which causes stagnation, inflation, and eventual near collapse of various markets, as we have seen with insurance, the housing market, health care, and other such things), and ended up a blithering Alzheimers ridden mess by the middle of his second term.

ITT: a bunch of fucking retards

- Carter, in spite of his rehabilitation as some kind of elder statesman, was an absolute imbecile. Inflation was completely out of control, deficit spending was exploding, unemployment was high, traditional blue collar industry was dying.

- Reagan stemmed all of that in spite of a hostile Congress run by Tip O'Neill between his drinking binges.

- Take a look at what GDP did once his policies took hold. Bill Clinton was the big beneficiary. He was able to get blow jobs from fat chicks because things kept humming along until the Internet bubble.

Reagan had his fault, but his economic record speaks for itself. If your parents weren't degenerate hippies, maybe they could have benefited from the logarithmic growth of the stock market since that era.

The Fed raised interest rates to a ridiculous amount when Reagan took office in order to fend off stagflation. Once they did that, an economic boom was inevitable. Reaganomics did its best to concentrate the benefits of that boom with the richest people in the country. That work continues today.

It was the beginning of the end of the government even pretending that it's for the people. We've since seen gross escalation of these policies under Bush and naked avarice from the Republicans in Congress under Trump. They aren't even trying to pretend now.

However the economy did boom under Reagan. We have the stock market to thank for that though. Remember you can't look at the stock market as something the president is responsible for. It's why Obama isn't considered an economic god.

I love Reagan though. He made the 80s in many ways with his policies. Even if I disagree with trickle down I still love the man. He projected strength and gave America the ability to feel great again. God I wish I could time travel and live in the 80s as an adult.

And what do you think those contracts are for?

I will give you a hint. The government doesn't build the computers that the welfare office uses, they buy them. Along with the software. That is all government contracts.

In 2015 for example, the US federal govenment spent 3.8 Trillion dollars.

2.45 Trillion was "Mandatory" spending, which means a law dictates what is spent. Almost half of that was Social security, unemployment, and labor. another 40 percent is health. the remaining 10 percent is Vets, Transportation (where we give contracts to build roads) and farm aid.

The Remaining amount is discrecenary - Military, government workers, Education, Foriegn aid, Science grants, Extra medical and Vet benefits that exceed statutory requirements, and environment top that list.

So do not try to be a idiot and say that when we buy a rifles it corporate welfare, or that if we buy computers for the schools it welfare for whatever company bids on it. That just being a damn fucking leaf.

Wait, checks flag.

The Clintons are empty shells with no policies aside from whoever donates the most. In addition repealing Glass Steagall had across the board bipartisan support. We have been effectively ruled by the same "wall street globalist neoliberal" party since 1976 and the result has been the destruction of the entire US economy that isn't directly related to wall street.

Carter and HW helped deregulate wall street, although unlike Obama at least HW actually did criminally prosecute bankers after the S&L scam tanked the economy.

You seem like a smart guy. Placing emotional trust in a rich, mentally failing celebrity with little understanding of economics or avoiding serious international gaffes all because of insecure paternal needs is what got us into a mess decades ago–looks like people are already repeating that history because they can't tell reality from insanity. It started being more about blusterous identity politics than principles in this country a long time ago.

It's also why Obama was able to continue and worsen a lot of the problems earlier presidents started: unconstitutional surveillance, privacy violation and more needless involvement in Middle Eastern shit shows.

Retards don't realize that Democrats ran the House during his entire Presidency, so the only way he could get any legislation through was by compromising with Democrats, who shut down the government 8 times while he was President.

A lot of the economic policy is done through monetary policy and how the President responds to it (the "independent" Fed tends to cave to political pressure to monetize American government debt). Real wages declined in the late 70s-1980s and have stagnated ever since

median household income only went up due to women working more and more in order to pay for all the expensive housing/debt financing/ modern families were being forced to accept.

Debt became insane under Clinton and then even worse during the housing bubble until today where not only are real wages are stagnant, but because everyone is up to their eyes in debt the economy, demand, and inflation are stagnant

The only parts of the economy making money are the housing market, where prices are continuing to inflate thanks to speculation and immigration, and wall street where trillions of dollars have been injected into the stock/bond market thanks to low interest rates and money "printing"

You know nothing about the economic situation we were in before Thatcher. Full on socialists were in control, unions had immense power, and the Government set the price of bread companies had to sell at. The economy was a shambles with tax rates up to 90%

Our industry was inefficient and un-competitive internationally, and it only made shit products. Thatcher modernized our economy. While I don't agree with all of her privatizations and closures, as I feel people working in some factories and mines could not get any job elsewhere, she did well overall. Fucked the North a bit, but bought us back from the brink.

And she never flooded the country with immigration, that was started under Blair in 1997.

>I feel people working in some factories and mines could not get any job elsewhere, she did well overall.

So she put people out of work and sent jobs overseas. But somehow that helped the economy?

> she never flooded the country with immigration,

She created the conditions for mass immigration, Blair's policies were the logical extension of union busting and outsourcing. They were getting the white brits who cost money to employ ready to be replaced by cheap non white labor.

This isn't even a new idea, it's classic globalism.

Sarcasm on the internet is such shit.

Playing dumb, saying things ironically. This shit needs to stop, it adds nothing to any conversation.

Just the regular stuff spending shit ton of money, taking massive debt, protecionism, social-democracy and other shit. To the left save face and saying that the thing he did and many others across the world (wich are things the left loves to do) created the label neo-liberal, from liberal only in the name and in the official discourse.

The short ones cause the longe term effect, big government spending and forcing lower interest rates trought the fed can lead to short term growth but ultimatily lead to inflation (monetary expansion) and growing debt and recession (the wages since the late 80's have been stagnated, since the mid 90's people with a college degree are getting paid the same amount in the first jobs and so on).

Wall street is not desregulated, its well protected by the government and by the solely existence of the state with his regulations and controll of economy lead to corporations and private invertors doing lobby or buying out politicans so they can achieve their objectives withou any regard from the market.

fraud has been completely legalized on wall street

You'd think ancaps would support legalizing fraud because "muh free market"

>Wall street is not desregulated,

Funny how prior to deregulation there weren't any massive debt bubbles

what a cohencidence.

You make some good points. But do you really believe the economic policy transition and its effects were somehow that causally abrupt on the average American? Explain how. Until I read some new piece of information on the matter of supply side policies that don't tie it to long term degradation of economic growth and middle class purchasing power, I'm sticking with >>131142074

I get what you mean by sustained household income growth for just that period. But it's not like Reaganomics and its aftershocks were suddenly disbanded in 1988 or 1992.

Debt bubbles are caused by government forcing trought the fed banks to lower interest rates and priting money (this creates an environment in favor of spending, people start to take more amounts from the banks and start spending more meanwhile their money is getting devalued by inflation which inevitably leads people to default), so much for deregulation and non-state intervention when the state bails out banks for their bad management.

Deepened the wealth gap. Kept yammering about "big government" but drove the public debt to unprecedented levels. Just your typical republican.

>What is /pol/'s opinion on Reaganomics?

Literally broke the country. Gave us a tech and telecom boom, but that ended up being so deflationary for consumer goods and inflationary in everything else that it broke the country. Started the outsourcing craziness and nonstop diaspora pouring out of California. Busted the unions which were about the best deal the plebs ever had. SLAUGHTERED established local and small businesses. Started the slow decay of our infrastructure due to neglect.

Elevated narcissism to a religion.

The 80s & early 90s were a good time to be alive, but it damn sure wasn't because of reaganomics. That was more about the music, the parties, and the optimism. Also, the environment got cleaned up quite a bit during that period.

>but drove the public debt to unprecedented levels

To be fair, the Dems controlled congress during both of Reagan's terms. It was a thoroughly bipartisan screwjob.

To be fair, you don't know what the fuck you're
talking about. Repubs had a majority in Senate
1981-to-1987
