Thomas stated he desires to retire soon, and I don't see why he'd put that off while there's a conservative as president.

It's totally possible that after 8 years of Trump, we'll have a court that's stacked 7-2, and with a lot of fresh conservative faces nowhere near retirement, leaving only Kagan and Sotomayor on the liberal end.
