So if you go from 8 hours a day doing stuff for which you can be penalized in a serious way (mostly just social) to 8 hours having "fun" without possible penalties there will be a change in personality.

Apart from that if exploited is meant in the way where they benefit from your labour, well that's the reward for people to have a functioning competitive system and maintaining it. You can do that too (which will likely require a lot of work again) but apart from that it shouldn't really matter to your personal state that they benefit from your time or not. Apart from that I don't see why you need to be self-reflecting all the time, it's done automatically. Even so if you test yourself with doing something productive you are creating the perfect self-test too.
Friends and loved ones; that's what the leisure time is for, right? And if you have a proper job you'd have time to visit them during the week too, unless you have some high maintenance relationships there.
