>not allowing the right to firearms
I cannot even begin to wrap my mind around it. Guns exist. There are several hundred billion of them RIGHT now in existence. They outnumber humanity. Even if you ban guns this instant across the globe bad people would have easy access due to disregard of the law due to them being criminals and the sheer volume of firearms.
>but if we allow firearms then bad men will use them
Bad men will use firearms no matter what laws you put in place. If you make it so difficult they will use swords or knives or vehicles instead. There are numerous items that can be utilized to end life and you cannot get rid of them all. All you can do is rob the average citizen of the ability to defend themselves.
That is the crux of it all. In America we acknowledge there are bad elements but trust the common person to have the knowledge and morality to carry weapons responsibly. No matter how terrible one act of violence or terrorism is. It is offset by the fact that for every crazy we have 70,000 regular people armed and ready to take them out if the need arises.
I do not trust any government that restricts firearms. If the whole of the population is good then firearm ownership poses no problem. Since it is only used to defend themselves. If a government is concerned about the population being armed and defending themselves then that means that government is doing something they know the people would not allow if they could use arms to stop them.
