I understand this will look like a lot of text but I’d just ask you for your patience.
How does one stave off the easy slip into nihilism, and depression?
I want to blow my brains out when I read any of the bullshit going on not only in my country but also in our collective western culture, there are so many groups attacking constantly under guises of righteous causes, of being on the right side of history or whatever other term they deign to use.
I have no idea what to do, or in what direction to apply myself, I get the whole sort myself out and self-improvement focusing, the sort of ride the tiger individual mastery stuff, but what’s the bloody point?
I clean my clothes and my rooms, water the plants etc.
I don’t see a future for building a family, taking the place of my father or my kin.
My upbringing and patriotic sentiments tell me to tighten my tie and say nothing, go all Kipling’s “if” but, to what end?
Like, fucking, what’s the bloody point?
How does anyone else deal with this despair?
How do “we”, if there is a “we” to those on the right, carry on?

We are only building a future for mankind to find where he is in the universe. Hopefully they'll find out in 2200 or so. Our job is to develop society (and tech but that's a small portion).
Everyone contributes by testing what works and what doesn't. What happens when homosexuality grows larger than 5% of a population? What if multiple races are forced to get along in a small area? Can they do it? How well and for how long?
Right now we're getting a good idea of how society works so we have at least a backbone when it goes to space. Because the purpose of life will change in space. We'll get a better understanding of what it means to live and why. Transhumanism is a speculation of that, but I'm not so sure it really is any deeper than elites being greedy and wanting to put off death.
TLDR: my guess is that the purpose of life right now is to develop mankind for the future

No, it's not encouraging to know i might be a literal time waster. But this is the farthest man has come in development and i kinda want to keep going just to see what happens. That concept encourages me.
