It's Hitlers fault in my opinion. They never considered Italy an equal partner and the disunity cost the greatly.

Even in the occupation of my country Hitlers orders were to be harsh to Resistance fighters and the more they killed them and their families the greater the resistance got. While Italians faced small resistance from us because they were not cruel.

What I'm trying to get to is that Hitler was a bit of an autist. Not that Mussolini was a genious mind you but at least he did not alienate everyone that did not agree with him completely.
