Actually, you only get a tax benefit of a few percent, and only if the family has ONE bread winner. Two people each making $50,000 actually pay fewer taxes than one family making $100,000.

Not to mention that any "savings" would be absolutely wiped out in a divorce. On average a divorce costs $20,000, plus alimony.

Only 3% of the 400,000 alimony collectors in the US are men.

Average alimony is 50% of your income after fixed expenses (the dumpy 1-bedroom apartment you'll grow so fond of).
