What does /pol/ think about guns? Should we have assault weapons?

What does /pol/ think about guns?

Should we have assault weapons?
Should we have full auto weapons?
Should we have stricter gun laws?
Etc. Etc.

My opinion is:
The citizens of the United States should readily have access to weaponry equal to US Ground forces, WITHOUT having to go through a needlessly extensive process to do so. Assault and fully automatic weapons should be allowed by law, as well.

Another belief I have ties in to the "equal weaponry to US ground forces" is as follows...
Local militias (while already legal and practiced in many mid to Southern states) should be fully allowed to have the same level of weaponry, and overall firepower, as the police forces of that state.
