In the desert, there is often "unlimited" visibility. Yesterday in AZ, I could see planes at 30,000 ft well enough to tell what kind of plane it was. 2.1 miles is no biggie in the desert sun, unless there is mirage in the way. That's what makes it a dubious claim to me. The mirage waves distort vision a lot.

IT's because we have NO money. None. That's not an exaggeration, our gov't spends hardly any money on us.

To compensate for that, we have to be trained up on a variety of things, things we night never even be expected to use, because if something breaks, we have to make due and push on anyway.
