What do you guys think about fiction and escapism in general?
I've been wondering lately if it is poisonous to society to some extent. I know this isn't some groundbreaking idea, but I'd like to see what you guys have to say about it.
Imagine all the time people spent playing video games, reading fiction, watching fiction, etc., was replaced with learning actual information.
Now obviously some fiction is better than other fiction; there is fiction out there that, while telling a story, also has a moral that sometimes sticks to the audience and makes them reflect on things.
But wouldn't that time be better spent taking in information that actually happened/is happening?
Maybe instead of watching Game of Cucks or Fart Wars, next time pick up a non-fiction book from an author you trust instead.
And don't even get me started on the agenda of (((TV))) and (((movies))).
/pol/ is escapism

Thanks for the contribution! Saved.

I think this is true to some extent. Every piece of news, even from trusted sources, will have some bias. It's up to you to find the truth, though. That's what redpills are; the hard truths that are buried under a litany of lies.
You know what I think, I think you should go back to redbit sweetie

np. To give my interpretation on escapism, I agree with you on how it is very poisonous to society en masse, but if you keep it contained, like at the end of a days hard work, or while your sick, or on vacation, escapism isn't a bad thing, like in literally everything else, if it's kept in small doses.

Yup, redbit is the place for you

I see the need for escapism similar to the way I look at cheatmeals for /fit/. It's fine in moderation, but once most of what you take in are those cheatmeals, you're fucked.
Modernity is bad
escapism only works so far, someday your gonna get kicked in the face and you will not be ready

Saved as well. Cheers, friend.
If you need escapism because you cant handle the cruel hardship of reality, harden up, it can get far worse
Nature and reality in general is far worse than everything right now
If you need escapism because life is boring, try treating life as something exciting, a big adventure
Self improvement is like leveling up a character in a game, the great adventure of our time is witnessing the decline of the west

Thanks man, much appreciated. I'm trying to start a good book collection and these'll help a lot. Have you read any Julius Evola? If so, what do you think of his stuff?

Not yet
Here's an example of poisoned literature with an agenda. This is why you should always research a book before reading it. You don't want to pollute your mind with chuff like this.

Does anyone know if the majority of these books would be able to be found online (free) or in a public library? I have no money, but im sick of just reading /pol/ and wikipedia to learn
