The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. I kept reading certain passages from the Bible and listening to Christian music when I was going through a tough time but failed in my anger. I even prayed, although I probably didn't pray as much as I should have. It makes a lot of sense and puts into perspective when I think about how these great men in the Bible fell into sin: King David, King Solomon, even Moses when he disobeyed God and struck the rock.

Jesus is the perfect man. He is the prototype of what a human being is supposed to be like. Jesus is truly the first human being if you think about it.

I wouldn't say that, the earliest Church Fathers believed that the 3rd temple would be rebuilt and that jesus would come back when the world was 6,000 years old. It's been almost 2000 years since the crucifixtion and ressurection of Jesus Chrsit. Anyways Saint Irenaeus took the book of Revelations very literally in a way like a lot of Evangelicals do today, I'm a Roman Catholic but that man was taught by Saint Polykarp and he was the Apostle John's own favorite student. Here he is on the Antichrist he talks about the 3rd temple and the abomination of desolation being a literal physical future event near the end of time, thousands of years away from him!

To answer your question, KJV is good to have always on hand, but I would start with the ESV audio bible. Start from the book of Matthew.

I highly recommend listening to the Bible first because reading it is difficult for some reason. It takes getting used to to read the Bible. I had a hard time understanding any of the Bible when I first read it so I had to power though it.

Also remember, to read in the Spirit. The devil is the greatest Bible scholar in this fallen world. Satan even used Scripture against Jesus in the wilderness.

All Bibles have in common that they are translated from the original Koine Greek and Hebrew languages with the help of other languages of the ancient world. Not even modern Greek and modern Hebrew is the same. Since those ancient languages are incompatible with all modern-day languages getting a 100% accurate Bible from them is impossible. Only 99%. There are two kinds of translations: Word-for-Word and Paraphrase. Word for word stays as close to the original words as possible but strays from some of the meanings of the sentences originally spoken. The other is paraphrase where it doesn't stick to the literal definition of the original word but strays on purposely to give a general idea. The problem with this is that it can stray to far from the original languages. The perfect Bible tries to find the middle ground between both.

The NWT is mostly word for word with some paraphrase wherever necessary.

ASV is mostly paraphrase

Reference Bible is the same as the NWT except it adds commentary

Kingdom Interlinear is mostly a giant dictionary that parallels original ancient words with modern words. Extremely word-for-word

You ever notice that if you ever listen to a Christian for more than five minutes, they will inevitably mention either the promise of heaven or the avoidance of hell? Ever listen to Christian radio? Ever listen to sermons? One or both of these points seems to be mandatory in any Christian argument or discussion. And even if they don't say it explicitly, the implication always leads back to either "this will secure my place in Heaven" or "this will help me avoid Hell."

I have never ever in my life heard or met a Christian that did not eventually circle back to the notion that getting to Heaven and avoiding Hell is really the most important aspect of the whole thing.

I've had Christians admit to me that if they knew that worshiping God would definitely send them to Hell, they wouldn't do it. Point proven. So my take-away is that all (or virtually all) Christians are fundamentally unable to break out of this paradigm. They can't imagine a scenario where they won't be rewarded. They can't imagine the point of doing anything spiritually or religiously if there is nothing in it for them.

Conclusion is that the carrot and stick of Heaven and Hell is the undeniable poison that taints every Christian decision. Every one of their actions is tainted and impure due to this; they are all simply selfishly trying to save their own skin and gain access to paradise. The promise to get to heaven and the promise to avoid eternal torture is a thing that poisons every thought and every decision in the Christian mind.

This btw is similar to any number of religions you can think of. Very few religions say that doing good is its own reward, and that there is no reward promised or even necessary.

Jesus told his followers that some of them would not taste death until they saw his 2nd coming. (attested in Matthew, Mark, and Luke...it's literally "gospel")

When it became obvious that all of his contemporary followers in fact had died, people began to ask questions.

2nd Peter 3 made a lame attempt to answer this question, saying:

"They will say, 'Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.' ... But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day."

The obvious problem with this is that Peter is essentially straight out saying Jesus was flat-out lying to his followers when he said some of them would not taste death before witnessing his 2nd coming.

Why on earth would the Bible conclude that Jesus lied? At least the Jehovah's Witnesses attempt to explain this away by declaring that Jesus DID come back in 1914 (for some reason) and it's just that nobody noticed (an absolute impossibility considering the absolute cataclysm that is to accompany the 2nd coming according to the Bible.)

Thus the fundamental dilemma. Either Jesus lied, as 2nd Peter 3:4-7 says, OR Jesus failed to predict his own 2nd coming accurately. Either answer is incompatible with being God and the Son of God.

Look, Mormons also have the KJV bible and they hold it dearly. But whenever it brushes up against their Mormon doctrine, then it effectively overrides what Jesus tells you in the Spirit. I can list some examples, but I don't know any off top of my head.

All I'm saying is, Jesus is the focus. You can link this and that. You can link man's doctrines. The key point is Jesus. God is Spirit and those that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Even if you were a Southern Baptist, I would still test your spirit to see if you truly follow Jesus. Not all Southern Baptists have a personal relationship to God. They go to church and play church. This was fulfilled through the transfiguration of Jesus in the mountain when he took some of the disciples with him.

What's so unusual about this? God has never cared about quantity, only quality. He destroyed an entire ancient world and only 8 people survived. He destroyed thousands in Sodom and Gomorrah and only 3 survived. He destroyed thousands in Jericho and only Rahab and her family survived. He destroyed all of Israel with the exception of a few from Judah who survived to be taken captive to Babylon. God has never cared about quantity, only quality. If JW are the truth he will have no problem wiping out everyone else except us. The difference is that we are going around door-to-door as Noah, as the spies in Jericho, as the OT prophets telling everyone that God is coming and he is going to wipe everyone off the face of the earth and if they want to survive they need to get on our boat. If they choose not to then their blood is on their hands.

No, the question is, did the fallen angels create dinosaurs before Adam was created.

(1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (2) The earth was formless and void, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water. (Genesis 1:1-2)

See there could be a gap between verses (1) and (2). Remember in the Bible Jesus saw Lucifer fall from Heaven like a lightning bolt. Where in Genesis did that take place? Maybe it occurred before or in-between verses 1 and 2?

If you go to the original languages themselves using their Strongs Concordances and Interlinear you can see that the NWT is very objective to the original manuscripts of Koine Greek and ancient Hebrew. Also, with the support of 3rd party language manuscripts like Aramaic, Syriac, and Sahidic Coptic. The reason people don't like the NWT, besides that it is published by JW, is that it doesn't honor tradition. Specifically, the KJV tradition and spurious text it has kept. It bypasses the KJV and goes straight for the original languages and stays as objective as possible.

The Holy Spirit will guide you on how to read the Bible. Jesus says that He will send down His counselor after He ascended into Heaven. He says this in the Book of John.
