I am from the US and you don't need a separate degree. You might have some remedial training that you have to do (and subsequent alternative certification), but you can get a temporary certificate to teach in social studies and probably math. Look up your state requirements.

This is the best thing I did for my "career" I never graduated college because I get bored with classroom settings but being able to walk into a room and "make friends" and "influence" people is literally god tier to most individuals. If you can sell you can sell almost anything and nothing happens until something is sold so you'll always be in demand. The only thing that hampers me is getting my foot in the door but I interview well and can speak to people easily so once I get a call I usually get bumped up on the list quickly. People want to work with "cool" and "interesting" people. You could know more than me but if they don't want to have a beer with you you're more than likely dead in the water.

I have six useless degrees the state paid for and the only now I can really get are for the state. I've taken odd blue collar jobs to pay bills. I've paid off my house by not being a picky faggot. The best part is taking a job and not needing it. I spoke my mind and didn't take shit and eventually got fired for making others feel stupid and not being a "team player". Now my old employer has to pay me a fat NEET Bux check twice a month so I can wake up at noon and shit post with you. Unemployment offers new field training, so I plan on getting more potentially useless degrees in my down time. Currently testing or tested for: child support officer, health specialist, state IT. I wouldn't mind part time at the local Wal-Mart, but only after bleeding out all my gibs and me dats. I used to work 70 hour weeks and I really enjoy being home working in my garden even if it is 100° outside. You know, that and being a husband and a father.

First of all economics is a bad choice in degrees. Your options are severely limited after graduation unless you plan to teach.

But I guarantee, I fucking GUARANTEE, your problem is you expect too much. You likely have next to zero job experience, lack the kind of knowledge that businesses need you to have, and want too much. Your job right out of college won't be a $100,000 a year economist working 4 halfdays a week. You get entry level. We all do. You work crap hours and if you're lucky you'll make 40-50k a year. Less if you're not in a big city. And odds are you won't make it there. So you'll need another entry level job.

Then in 5-7 years you know enough to get a better job. For you that means 5-7 years crunching numbers for someone else IF you even get into the field you want. Minimum.
