Okay, I use to be a libertarian capitalist that believed in no government regulation on private industries, but then I discovered Theodore roosevelt and light economic progressivism. Before roosevelt there was next to no regulations on industry, more notably the meat packing industry. Theodore read a book of what happened in the meat packing industry, vomited, and immediately created the FDA. Regardless of what has become of the FDA, restrictions were vital. This defeats the entire free market view that "if people know how their product is mishandled, they wont by the product and the company will be forced to change" no. The meat packing industry was highly profitable and wasnt going to change if roosevelt hadnt created the FDA, because even though that book had been out, and many people knew about what was happening, they still bought their meat because it was cheap. Same thing with mcdonalds, Ive worked there, its disgusting, everyone knows its trash food, is that gonna stop people from buying it? And not only are you putting the public at risk of disease or even death, you are making a profit off of a disgusting trade. And this can also be applied to the steel industry where you had molten steel falling on workers and the business owners did nothing, because it would be cheaper to get new employees then it would be to cool down the steel, halt production, and install safety measures. And saying "if you dont like the job dont take it" is retarded, because obviously if thats the only work available they will take it regardless. at the end of the day Ancaps value money over human life which is disgusting. Some restrictions are needed. (but not as much as we have now) I want clean milkshakes.
