What causes the sun's ray to appear in angles like this? Should the rays not appear parallel if the light source is as far away as 150 million kilometers?

They ARE parallel. It's a matter of perspective from the viewer's eye: the same thing happens when railroad tracks appear to converge to a point in the horizon.
