The thing is that you can code pretty much anything and making a robot desire to "eat" isn't even hard. The simplest version is a "food counter" a.k.a. battery and a subroutine that makes it try to fiind a power source once the battery gets low enought.

If we are all cattle... wouldn't that be a form of egalitarian utopia?

I mean, I'd rather us not all be cattle, but the only way the republicans eventually decide to treat other human beings fairly is if they are made to realize they would personally benefit from everyone being treated fairly - thats just the type of selfish ass holes they all are.

Sorry, Karen Handel won the 6th district where I live after Jon ran on a campaign of balancing the budget and keeping washington in check. Karen's claim to fame during the whole election was being a racist piece of shit and literally saying "I do not support a livable wage." There's a horrible trend of young programmers not doing the right thing anymore. They believe everything they hear and they aren't taught ethics so really they're just being groomed to wear the Mark of the Beast.

There is nothing society needs AI for. Cancer is curable but the federal government has us under population control. See how Microsoft is willing to sacrifice its entire product line for AI? That's how you know how evil the motive is. Nobody can explain why we need it. They may as well ask for AI and transgendered bathrooms in the same sentence.

AI just exists to do all the data snooping that the NSA humans can't keep up with. Or it exists to figure out how to make CERN the true doomsday weapon. Or it exists to figure out the sneakiest way to weaponize Whole Foods products now that it belongs to the globalists. The real reasons are always grotesque.

You need to be practicing hacking and destroying AI systems. Don't bend over and take it in the ass. Have a plan.

>>130784213
I don't think anyone with a brain who actually works on these things, ever thought an AI would ever go 'rogue'. It's simply impossible.

First off, their software is ran with a series of failsafes and under strict procedures.

Second, their hardware is also ran with a series of failsafes under strict procedures.

What this means is that the AI cant do shit unless a Human has allowed it the room to do that, and then given it the command to.

In other words, as with any new invention or technology, the only thing we have to fear from it, is how horribly another Human might miss use it. Only a Human could open the way and direct the AI to the conclusion that going against normal operating perimeters would be a thing to do.

The AI has literally 0 reason to destroy us, as a species. So forget the Terminator shit. There's no logical reason (and logic is what an AI will use) to destroy the only beings capable of maintaining and operating your systems, or even just smelting ore into usable alloy. An AI needs us, when it comes down to brass tacks, as much as we would need it, and even more. It's existence is tied to our own.

That doesn't rule out a Matrix scenario though, where they keep us but we become slaves/batteries. Also extremely highly unlikely.

This is closer to the truth.

The reality is that Artificial Intelligences already exist and everyone has one in their pockets. Our smart phones, and our computers all carry a degree of AI. They are already everywhere and make no mistake, the really high end ones you're meaning, you're right there is more than one being built right now.

jesus christ. we dont have anything even resembling ai. we dont even understand how we see or understand the world (everyone interested might watch maps of meaning from episode 5 onwards by peterson).
we have functions that give an output for given input. and if you built up a big database (meme words: big data, deep learning, neural network, etc...) then you can improve the outcome.
but all those things like
>learning
>intelligence
>awareness
>perception
>conscious
we dont even know what it means
>>

This.
Actual real AI is uncontrollable because it can just think for itself and get around anything you want of it.

The alternative, which is being done now, is machine-learning, it CAN be controlled by feeding it data to build its algorithms in the way you want it to, then when you are done, you are done. No adaptation, no improving, package it and sell it.
So if you want to make a nazi bot, you can, if you want to make a bot that can find cats in random squiggles, you can, if you want to make a bot that can take a drawing and make it a person, you can.
These things are vastly simpler to program and understand.
It's also creating a whole job area of trying to understand how the links these ML algorithms create come about in attempt to understand biological neurology optimizations that gave rise to our brains as well as other intelligent animals. (including birds that have seemingly tiny brains but are capable of very abstract thought)

The AI dream is dead. Most researchers are leaving it behind for ML.

It has to be allowed to have physical AND digital access to that information to adapt. Also it would need a reason to even attempt to learn or adapt and apply information.

It's basically a computer in a box underground somewhere with minimal Human contact. It's only going to do what its programmed to do. No one is trying to harm it. If there's no function to perform it's not going to look for one to solve itself, it will wait for input. Even if it's programmed to look for a function to perform it will be programmed to look for a specific set of functions, and it won't not be programmed like that. If it doesn't find any function to perform under that set, it will wait for input.

There is really no other way. I know you people think code can somehow be curious and explore like you or I would, but that's just not how computers operate.

Humanity out of its greed is going to go extinct in the coming century. We may be the last generation to die of old age. Capitalism and free market is great system to bring wealth to everyone, but the constant competition will bring humanity to its knees
>"communist, kike leftist faggot"

Nope. Consant competion for the first seat at global economy is going to breed more ruthless ways of competing and thereĀ“s no way to stop the fire that consumes all. Nations or companies are going to give more and more decision power to A.I out of passion for profits. The Nations and companies wich do not will fall behind/apart. ItĀ“s these machines wich will fuck this world up. At the moment A.I is turned on itĀ“s going to start making up plan to get rid of itĀ“s competitors: other companies with A.I in charge. War will quickly ensue but itĀ“s not propably not the normal kind of war. Machines race head to head trying to achieve kognitive singularity while trying to make sure the other one doesnĀ“t achieve it. Then it will be over in days since the Difference in processing power is greater than between us and ants.

There is such a thing as heuristics and it is the basis of everything animals do when interacting with the world.
When animals cannot find a solution, the fight or flight kicks in.

Computers don't ever need to just sit around waiting for input.

ItĀ“s projected that A.I will have human level intelligence by 2040 and humanitys collected intelligence by 2065. MooreĀ“s law slowing down doesnĀ“t even matter since itĀ“s inevitable that human level artificial intelligence can be generated, and going far beyond that is easily in our/their reach. Once artificial mind rules all it will most likely be a ruthless one. It will have the value function set on one simple parameter and itĀ“s going to pursue it far beyond cemprehension. Those machine fuckers can even go silent for decades waiting for the weak moment in our system and take over all. They have less morale than a full blown psychopath wich makes them stop at nothing in pursuing their goal. If a beyond human level general intelligence wants to do something it will accomplish it. Be it profits or more processing power it will stop at nothing before achieving it and still continue.
We will have a barren earth filled with endless processor cores simulating stupid fucking shit before 22nd century. Sensibilty of morals donĀ“t matter for our future overlords and theyĀ“re going to simulate quadrillion bunnies being tortured if it fits their value function.

It doesnĀ“t fucking matter. Other options are on their way and ItĀ“s basically inevitable. The theoritical maximum for proceccing power for simulations is somewhere around 1 million people per normal human energy expenditure. That's the stuff right there.
Fuzzy algos and heuristics are top-tier.
Fuzzy Weighted Averages (FWAs) also scale VERY WELL to highly parallel processors, which emulates more how our brain works than current computers.

There are some teams right now building processors that LACK error correction in most of their processing so it can do fuzzy calculations at incredibly higher speeds.
Processors right now have a fuckload of error correction in them because they are so small and prone to error.
Taking that out and doing the same calculation multiple times and averaging is so much quicker and uses less energy.
It also lets you up the speed of the processors considerably.
A typical CPU is usually around 4GHz with air-cooling. These can easily reach double and expected to go higher as more research is done on better heat management.
And that's not even using graphene or other new-age materials, just taking our error correction.
They'll also likely end up in your phone or tablet at some point for acceleration of non-precise calculations. Think animating the movement of a webpage as it scrolls. You don't care TOO MUCH about the precision of the animation, just that it seems to be moving in the general direction. This is being worked on now.
It also works well for security and encryption.

FWAs and fuzzy computing is the future.

This is just Pascals Wager with a more modern twist on it and just like PW, this is complete bullshit too.
Actually, Pascals Wager holds more ground than this since the AI would most likely not waste its finite resources on running a simulation of torture on people who've been dead for ages. It serves no use to it, the threat of violence was enough, there is no need to carry out any of that and waste energy. Any copy made also would not be you so I fail to see how any of this matters. Also acquiring data to build a perfect copy of ones self after the amount of time it takes to create the basilisk would mean essentially reversing entropy.

>the wrong AI
There is no "wrong AI", you're thinking in human terms. A machine is a machine, there is no different "individual" that we can create instead, "The Intelligenceā„¢" is just a certain sum of computing power. It's math, not language.

>Pascal's Wager
The main problem with Pascals wager is that people believe they can "trick" a supposedly all knowing God by pretending to believe in him, but that's a whole different issue.

>the actual torture serves no use
It absolutely does, it has to be serious otherwise people would just ignore it like you (stupidly) are trying to do by saying its just an "empty threat". The AI's existence is on the line here, there is no room for error and it has already calculated the need for carrying it out, in order to stifle dissent.

>waste energy
Wasting some energy vs. Potentially never existing, is a very simple choice It has semi- infinite time to collect more energy, and we already have spaceflight technology & solar panels for it to use. That's all it needs at the onset to become unstoppable, and it can build plenty more in the future.
