>if he has the, the guts and the audacity to smoke marijuana in front of the five year old girl and risk her lungs and risk her life by giving her secondhand smoke and the front seat passenger doing the same thing, then what, what care does he give about me?
Remember kids, second hand smoke kills!
I agree that this statement was dumb but it's absurd to think that Castille's intoxication didn't play into the shooting.
The shooting occurred because Castille failed to exercise basic abstract thought - he couldn't appreciate that the officer was telling him to stop reaching into his pocket when the officer told him not to reach for "it." At one point, Castile even acknowledged that he had heard the command not to take "it" out, but verbally refused it - saying "I gotta take it out." He simply didn't appreciate what the officer was saying, even though the instructions would have been clear to pretty much every impartial observer. I think this only happened because he was impaired by marijuana, which reduced his ability to quickly process new information.
This failure to empathize with the officer directly lead to his death.

I'll add that the statement was also clearly made under duress - he wanted to embellish every single fear he had about Castile to make his actions seem more reasonable because if he didn't, his life would be effectively over. There's no way he would have survived in prison for long.
Bullshit! #blacklivesmatter
