I was talking about how Tsar Alexander II handled the ending of serfdom. It was handled far better than how ending slavery was handled here. The Confederacy would've adapted and likely have copied Russia as time went on as the south begins to industrialize. You keep implying the Confederacy would've been South Africa. The slave trade was pretty much dead in the west and European countries were already discussing not working with the CSA over the issue. On top of this industrialization made slavery obsolete anyway. On top of this men like Lee were already very abolitionist minded and if the CSA won Lee being President was practically a guarantee. Jim Crow laws wouldn't have suddenly meant the CSA was going to become South Africa. The north pretty much had their own unspoken versions of Jim Crow too hence the second Klan's huge popularity in northern states. If the south stuck with agriculture all of the cotton and tobacco would've been worthless anyway if Europe refused to deal with them. Slavery was doomed to die no matter what side won.

Migration killed us. Most of our states are overrun with non-whites. The whites that are here are mostly transplanted yanks, carpetbagger spawn, and later german and slavic immigrants.

The original Anglo Texans for example, barely exist anymore in my home state. We'll never get dixie because most of the population has no kinship or connection to the Confederacy or the antebellum south, even the whites.
