I suppose we are.
But then again the amount of capital being spent by amazon to be a loss leader is an issue that has never been addressed.

Mom and pop stores do not run their stores this way and in fact it is impossible for them to do so without huge amounts of investment.

My liberal roommate believes that Amazon has gotten where it has gotten because of unchecked capitalism. He bought into the meme that ALL CEO s are greedy and do not give more money to employers. He believes when capitalism is unchecked you have stuff like Amazon destroying the retail industry.

He also told me last night that we need to adopted more democratic socialism since it would fix this issues with capitalism. He claims we dont need full blown socialism just democratic socialism like what Bernie has been pushing. When i laughed at him and said socialism promotes laziness he claimed I'm a dumb republican who thinks socialism is communism and went on and on about how the republicans and myself are wrong for not considering socialism. He refused to believe that socialism is a slippery slope to communism and said I was just "uninformed"

Even When My roommate tries to be centrist he comes off as a smug liberal. He insists Obama and his admin are not to blame for ISIS but believes Bush ruined is with the Iraq war and hurt the economy. The double think is amazing.

(((them))), the globalists

Its part of an overall scheme to move all content and programs to cloud based services.

Where they can summarily be destroyed at the push of a button.

> no more apps, they were all on the servers
> no more movies or music, they were all on the servers
> no more porn either
> and the phones and computers had kill switches put on them in the past few years's OS updates
> no phones or computers to peruse anything that did get saved

all of our work, all of our content, it will all be gone, erased from history

Strasserism is what we need, tell him to look into that very closely.

Its basically Nazi Germany but without a focus on the racial issues. Just the government making sure everyone does their part, and gets what they need, without trying to replace daily business.

Can't be millennials. Wall Street strapped them with $1.7 trillion in student loan debt. The banks won, retail lost.
>>
>>130660723
No one since it isn't going anywhere and although you NEETs don't have jobs or leave, a lot of people still prefer going to a store than buying shit online.

T. Works for major retailer with "insider" info that it isn't going anywhere
>>
>>130660723
Nobody is killing retail, retail is changing from many small stores to fewer larger stores. You no longer go to retail just to buy stuff, retail has become part of your entertainment.

The free market.

Nobody wants to go to blockbuster when you can rent a movie cheaper/faster online.

Same rule applies to literally everything else we buy.

It's progress, anon. Don't fight it. You'll lose. Embrace it. A lot of money to be made, and there's plenty to go around.

I came here to post this. rampant consumerism has locked us all into a rat race wherein any free time we have we would rather spend relaxing at home and now thanks to the internet we can purchase a lot of consumer goods online and have them delivered straight to our door. Literally the only people in line at actual stores (other than grocery) now are fucking retarded boomers that don't know how to use a debit card and hold up the fucking line for 3 hours.

>Who cares
You would if you weren't a retard and actually modeled the situation out in your head.
>Clothing factory gets outsourced to China. High paying local factory jobs gone. But t-shirts are cheaper so it all balances out right?
That's great. Except there are other things that can only be provided locally at local prices.
So while somebody with a McJob in place of being a production labourer can still afford a t-shirt they can now no longer afford a home. Or a car. etc.
Boomers talk shit about responsibility and how a 3 dollar per year minimum wage is too high and yet my father moved out at age 16, snagged a part time job at a gas station, could afford a car, his own place, party every weekend while saving up and putting himself through a couple of years of university (but eventually dropped that ambition and went into production labour) The first house he owned he purchased for about 1/3rd of his gross annual income. And sure it was a fixer-upper but you can't get an empty lot anywhere important for 1/3rd of your annual income anywhere these days.
The entire economy has been fucked over. individual figures are fucking meaningless. A teenager could go out and get a McJob, buy a beaten up old muscle car and smoke weed every day, go to University and still have enough money left over to save up and buy a house with cash.

e-commerce. And mostly Amazon.

Amazon sells anything retail does and can get it to your house within a couple of hours. They've recently bought Whole Foods, and will probably start offering pharmaceuticals next. On top of that, They own the washington post and have a shit load of influence on retards. Not even Walmart can touch Amazon at this point.

Online stores and itself
I got a summer job at Kmart
>19 hours a week
>Split across 4 days
>Working 4-5 hour work days and not even getting good hours

Working retail is almost a complete waste of time. They take up just enough of your time so you can't do anything else. And they were basically hiring anyone that could walk through the door and had a pulse. Even stupid people working there know they are getting screwed. Which is a demoralized work force.
And in Kmart's case the store feels old and has not updated itself. They have registers there that take 20 minutes to restart. And 2 out of the 4 price checkers are broken. Meaning I have to the other side of the store to check a price on an item.
And I've worked in other retail stores and brick and mortar stores.
They are quickly becoming warehouses for quick pick up and people to get dimensions/try out products before they order them online. Why buy a pair of snickers in store and when you can check the fit in store and buy them on Amazon for 20$ off and free shipping.

Its not millennial's fault that we had a massive recession in our young upstart years and couldn't get jobs, now we can't get hours to actually make a living to move on to other things in life. And this just goes to show that our generation has gotten all the negative side effects the past 2 decades

>Major recession
>No money saved up
>No work experience
>Debt for college
>Still no money because trying to pay of student loan debt
>Internet and social media has rekt our ability to communicate and connect with each other

We got the short end of the stick at every point of this rigged game

> believes when capitalism is unchecked you have stuff like Amazon destroying the retail industry.

Capitalism doesn't need to be checked. Amazon isn't killing companies, the companies are doing it to themselves by not competing to stay relevant.
>>
>>130670752
Sorry for the grammar issues there. I get pretty fucking heated when we're talking about the economy and millennial's
>>
>>130669520
It's this combined
>>130669217
With this
>>130666961
And this
>>130661252

Consumerism plus lack of community and addiction to technology plus the depression of a weak economy and low wages/absurd housing costs. We are LESS DIRECTLY INTERACTIVE than ever in human HISTORY. We want to "medicate" with empty products and experiences, but because we hate the lack of meaningful interactions in our lives, we purchase online, where we can just get the product without being reminded that we're becoming fucking husks.
>>
>>130671107
We've literally been trained to want nothing tangible in our lives. Like instead of a collectible toy or a book, my brother's kid wants DLC as a gift.

>UGH, THESE SPOILED MILLENIALS! Don't they all know that the real value in life is spending your free time playing hoop and stick while walking to your physical book store and paying extra money to get a hardback? You have to do that or else you're a transhumanist Comie who doesn't go outside. REEEEEEEEE

Someone told me that Trump is "king of the boomers". It's entirely accurate, but the refreshing thing is that he's a boomer who isn't a fucking Luddite.

There's some hope, still. You have to look at what you CAN do, and this is where family is important. My son loves books, playing outside, painting, music, etc. He also loves educational TV. Today, you gotta find balance and forge your own community, because society is becoming a skeleton in its own.
