The only reason the CA state has any water what so ever is due to the extensive damming projects the Army Corps of Engineers built long ago to create a "watershed" in the South West.

There was on smart geologist that realized this idea would eventually lead to a dust bowl of sorts as you're hyper focusing most farmland to one area and consistently raping the land. He proposed that the borders of states in the South West be divided by water borders so as to best use the land for it's natural features rather than use arbitrary borders and terraform the waterways to best suit those borders.

CA would be more desert if it weren't for the Army Corps of Engineers. Similar to how most of Florida, especially Central Florida, would be underwater without the extensive man-made "lakes" (aka swamps) built to channel the water.

The classic thought is that you are supplied someone of working age without the need of nurturing them when they are a drain on resources for 18 years. Problem is, it's too simplistic a model.

It ignores that immigrants are not necessarily natives of working age we get for free. Here's a list of negative things that immigrants do for the economy:

1) they send money back home, which is obviously removing money from our economy
2) they make job markets volatile, as demand for particular sorts of jobs (low skilled labor, medicine, etc) is met quickly and unwittingly. Typically 15-18 year olds could fill demand in so many years. They consider their options, as they understand there's a need for them and they want a job as soon as they graduate. That is the typical way college age students choose majors is by employability. That is among the reasons they take bullshit degrees, because they are flexible. Vocations are risky because you can't do much else if you go to school to be a mechanic and it was taken by Ahmad.
3) they lower real wages for people in their field because they are wage-takers and are willing to work more and earn less to be competitive
4) bureaucratic costs
5) immigrants commit crimes at a far higher rate. Not just theft, but malpractice too
