For me it's knowledge. My perfect existence would to be an ethereal scholar. Not bound to any plane of physicality, time or other beings. I love learning and I love teaching.

The catch is that knowledge comes with some very expensive, hidden fees. A standard statistic that gets passed around a lot, is that the higher the IQ the more likely a person is to suffer from depression and self-induced mental health problems.
This is understandable considering the way the world is currently working. Understanding man and society usually brings about an alienation because one suddenly sees how simply and animalistic the world functions. Wanting to understand the things we cannot fathom in sobriety, such as the higher entities of this world, gods, inherent intelligence in the ether and the way life truly functions, requires altering the chemicals in the mind enough for one to fully cast off the shell of pretend. Realizing that ''human'' is but a buzzword to excuse a much simpler but grander existence, is surely something that would make the average peoples think one is complete and utterly insane. It would be like explaining quantum mechanics to a mollusk that lives on the bottom of the mariana trench. It can get the slightest picture in its own mind about what you are talking about but because of it's simple existence it is too limited to ever understand.

Tangents aside, living for knowledge is not something I can recommend. You'll be an outcast, misunderstood, be disowned by the ones who are bound to you by blood and even the people who understand you will never be able to relate to you. But at least you will know the truth, eh.
