There's what's called 'plausible deniability' if they are an inside source. Typically a percentage of disinformation is mixed in with truth to throw any internal investigators off the trail.

Also, it's not unusual for these whistleblowers to go dark for a while once the majority of their information is dispensed. The VOL group may switch to responding to new happenings as they come about.

Of course it's possible they've been neutralized but I would be surprised if they didn't have some sort of contingency plan in place.
