If Puerto Rico becomes a state, is Puerto RIcan no longer a nationality? What becomes of Puerto Ricans? Can they still be called a hyphenated American nationality, Puerto RIcan-American like they do For Irish American, Italian American etc. It not longer works does it?
Nations occur whitin countries. Is just a group of people sharing cultural codes, has nothing to do with legal status of land.

Yea, but what I am asking is if Puerto Rico is a state can a Puerto Rican born and raised in Chicago be called a Puerto Rican still. I mean just because some ones mother and father are from Texas doesn't mean we would call their child a Texan if he is born and raised and lives in Chicago.

Good question. I honestly think it doesnmt matter what so ever. There's people that get obssesed over other cultures and they identify and lie to people about being part of the culture. I think if you like something like that so much as to follow it your whole life, "Sin duda alguna serĂa boricua aunque naciera en la luna."
