Since health 'insurance' is pretty much guaranteed for anyone who works for the government or a reasonably sized corporation, and fairly common even in small business, the assumption that almost everyone has some form of health insurance lets medical prices be spread out over everyone. The medical industry in general then just keeps raising the prices to meet what is effectively getting the max they can per citizen per year out of society through what ever means.

In the US this is $9.5k a year per person.

The costs of things are basically dictated by that number, $9.5k times the number of americans, not any costs on what these things would actually cost to provide, like everywhere else in the world.

Its not a luxury, and its not something you can just go and 'grown your own' either. People are going to have to pay whatever they have to pay to have it, and its prices are not going to be what people want to pay for it, its going to suck up every last bit of spare change anyone has, because you either pay for it or you die, no point saving money if you are dead.

Colleges should be nationalized too by the way, with out the advertising and brainwashing leading people to this money scam we can create trade schools. A significant portion of people with 4 year degrees should have gone to a trade school anyway, but nobody tells them this.

You miss the boat entirely. Insurance reimbursement rates artificially increase medical costs. If the doctor to run a test, absorbs $60 in costs, then he needs to bill 60 dollars of services. but what happens when the insurance company says, "we know you billed $60, but we are only paying you $20".

Well, the Dr has to then figure out what he needs to charge for that procedure to be paid the bare minimum to recoup his costs. So he adjusts his billing and now charges $140 dollars for the same procedure. The insurance company gets the bill, adjusts it down to a 60 dollar payment and everyone goes on about their day wonder why in the fuck healthcare is so goddamn expensive

The Federal government does not provide any funding to states for science or art classes - the entire control for budgeting for schools is done at a district level. You are getting it wrong though, you are assuming it actually costs $60 because they billed $60? No. Insurance haggles down, and this has caused all prices to go up. All medical care is like buying a car, only just the insurance can haggle down, the actual fee they can charge you is fixed, BY AGREEMENT, with the insurance company. This is how the insurance companies insure everyone wants to buy insurance.

Of course there are places you can pay out of pocket and negotiate down, but like i said they are not common. Any medical facility thats fairly large scale and popular and has agreements with all the insurance providers will be like this, they list high, insurance gets to haggle down, people paying out of pocket can't.

This is the way drugs cost work as well, the pharma companies try to match each others inflating prices, but thats the list price, what actually gets paid for is an obfuscated and closely guarded secret, but if you are paying out of pocket you gotta pay full price.
