Did the Republicans and Democrats imperceptibly switch platforms? They claimed that the switch happened in between Abraham Lincoln and FDR.
They cite FDR's new deal and how Republicans vehemently opposed it.

The switch transitionally happened between FDR and lyndon johnson.
Johnson put the final nail in the coffin with the passing of the Civil Rights act at the same time as Republicans were enacting their highly successful "southern strategy."
