Only in part, the majority of muslim have never known modernity. Those that do can't handle it, either they become super-degenerates or reject everything good and bad about it.

Their religion isn't incoherent but it is by definition at war with the unbelievers and at heart an arab supremacist movement. Islam can't coexist with anything else, the best you can get is a temporary truce if you give in to all their demands.

Fundamentalist Islam is a response to extremely ignorant nation building decisions made over the course of an entire century. Our obsession with controlling and dismantling the Pan-Arab socialist movement was a disaster, and now we have to deal with the blowback. If we had just left them alone to form commie degenerate parties, fundamentalist Muslims would have been weeded out by the late 70s, I guarantee you. For fuck sakes, Nasser was hunting down the fundamentalists and executing them in the streets.
