I see paganism as a decentralized form of spirituality. There are many stories with layered meanings. There are rituals meant to do all sorts of things, from pushing the adept into revelation to conveying teachings through symbolism. There are organizations that each have their own teachings.

Paganism recognizes the reflection of divinity found in the natural world and uses that to learn about the higher realms. As above, so below.

There are LARPers, but they're not really pagans, are they? They are useful idiots that keep sacred knowledge from passing on to the profane.

Paganism is often used as another word for polytheism - this is ignorance, as the two words do not mean the same thing.
