Same. I browse right wing sites and read right wing literature and I often find myself coming up with arguments to the left of where they stand that make a fair bit of sense theoretically. I work through the theoretical issues and generally concede a fair number of things to the original argument of the author and wind up with a decently nuanced view.

Then I consume some sort of liberal media and find myself thinking these people are barely even human and need to be put down. There's a lot of factors that fell into it, and I would be lying if I said this place didn't play a large part in it.
What it really boils down to is I decided to be honest with myself. I was a heroin addict, and after that an alcoholic. I went to rehab, and honestly took a look at myself while I was there trying to figure out why I can't just be sober like a normal person.
Through soul searching, spiritual progression, and being painfully honest with myself, and the people around me it just kind of happened.
I started taking off all the masks I was wearing, and started being myself. The pacifism one was probably the hardest. Philosphically speaking I still want to believe there is no issue so great it cannot be talked out, and must resort to physical violence.
Then I am reminded of how completely naïve that is.
So to answer your question I started being honest with myself, and developed tools to realize when I am being delusional.
