Firstly, the government isn't the same kind of abrasive communism, it's the state-planning centrality of an autocracy with the mutability and flexibility of modern liberalism.
Secondly, Chinese Christianity won't become a socially unifying force if it's Protestant, because Protestantism is fully played out in how it can go as a socially dominating force. Even if it became fully dominant in China, it would probably result in a situation where 80 years from now, China is where America was circa 2000, whereas every formerly white country is totally upturned by liberalism, which China will inevitably fall into under a Protestant mindset.
A medieval-style Catholic society is also unlikely, because the plurality that China has that allows a sub-political Christianisation would not support a unifying religious authority as existed prior to Protestantism.
